Simone Development officially opens the Boyce Thompson Center in Yonkers
For nearly four decades, the plant research center building at the Boyce Thompson Institute in Yonkers has lain abandoned and decaying, with graffiti-covered walls, dilapidated greenhouses and overgrown grounds.
On May 23, executives from Simone Development Companies joined Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and city and county officials to celebrate the transformation of the historic building into the Boyce Thompson Center, an innovative mixed-use center for 85,000 square feet with office/medical space, retail, restaurants, and banks
The grand opening celebration represented a significant milestone for Simone Development and the City of Yonkers. What was once an eyesore will now generate tax revenue for the city, create jobs and bring new retail and health care services to the residents of Yonkers and the neighboring Rivertown communities. We are especially pleased to preserve an important part of Yonkers and Westchester County's history, said Joseph Simone, president of the Simone Development Companies, developer of the $35 million project.
There is a tremendous sense of pride and renewal being felt by the city as we breathe new life into Boyce Thompson, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano said. With the vision and commitment of Simone Development, we were able to transform a long-stalled symbol of development into a true, historic economic engine that will capitalize on the momentum taking place in Yonkers right now.

Two new medical leases signed on Boyce Thompson Center property

YONKERS Simone Development Companies announced two new leases totaling approximately 9,500 square feet of medical space at the Boyce Thompson Center, a recently completed 85,000 square foot mixed-use facility located in northeast Yonkers.
ColumbiaDoctors, a multispecialty medical practice affiliated with Columbia University and New York-Presbyterian Hospital, signed a long-term lease for 6,839 square feet of second-floor space for physician offices primarily for cardiology and other medical subspecialties . Maureen OBoyle and Gerard Lees of Cushman and Wakefield represented ColumbiaDoctors.
In another medical lease transaction, Riverside Dental Health PC leased 2,621 sf on the lower level. The dental practice is moving from another location in Yonkers.

Oxford Medical Walk-in Clinic provides urgent medical care to people who need urgent medical attention and/or do not have a GP or are unable to reach their GP.
Appointments are usually not required, but it is best to call ahead of your visit to verify clinic hours, as they are subject to change. Simone Project Nears $35 Million Boyce Thompson Center

Construction is nearing completion on the Boyce Thompson Center, the approximately $35 million, 85,000-square-foot mixed-use development in Yonkers by Simone Development Cos.
A building that for decades served no purpose will soon become a public space for the benefit of the community, create 300 jobs and be back on the tax roll, said Guy Leibler, president of Simone Healthcare Development, owned by about seven acres. at 1086 N Broadway, adjacent to South Westchester Executive Park.
Most recently, Westmed Medical Group, the buyout-based multispecialty medical practice, signed a long-term lease for a two-story, 20,000-square-foot structure on the south side of the original Boyce Thompson Building. The Westmeds building is scheduled to open in March or April and will be connected to the main complex by a glass-covered corridor. The facility will house an urgent care center, according to Leibler, along with 17,000 square feet of primary care space.
In addition to Westmed, healthcare tenants at the new Boyce Thompson Center include Westchester Gastroenterology LLC, Juvanni Medspace Spa and Fresenius Medical Care. St. Johns Riverside Hospital will begin tenant work during the last week of September in its two-story, 15,000-square-foot medical office building and is scheduled to open its facility in January.
We could be under construction with two-thirds of all that space within the next 30 days, Leibler said.

Westmed opens a new complex in Yonkers today
WESTMED Medical Group will open its new Yonkers complex on Monday.
WESTMED will open in the Boyce Thompson Center, a former botanical research institute that has been renovated into a medical and retail business.
“Our Boyce Thompson office provides an urgent care center for patients in and around this community so they can access state-of-the-art medical care when they need it,” said Anthony Viceroy, CEO of WESTMED.
WESTMED has five other urgent care centers in Ridge Hill in Yonkers and in White Plains, Rye, New Rochelle and Greenwich, Connecticut.
WESTMED OB/GYN's current offices at 1022 N. Broadway and 656 Yonkers Ave. have been transferred to Boyce Thompson at 1084 N. Broadway.
Dr. Thomas Apuzzo, Family Medicine Physician, now at 955 Yonkers Ave. will move to the new WESTMED location in August.
The new location will also offer patients imaging, laboratory and perinatology services on-site.
